The 100 Greatest Funny People in Entertainment History #100-91

97. Michael Jai White

No sequel? WTF?

Michael Jai White is not comedian. By all rights, White should not be on this list. Sure, he’s had roles in several of Tyler Perry’s films but none of those did much for White. The film that would get White noticed was one he also wrote, Black Dynamite.‘ It seems White didn’t want to spend a long time on the genre so he rit a grand slam on his at-bat. Black Dynamite checks all the Tarantino-esque film geek’s boxes and, in turn, paid great tribute to a highly cherished genre and era.

Wikipedia tells us about the film:

“The plot centers on former CIA agent Black Dynamite, who must avenge his brother’s death while cleaning the streets of a new drug that is ravaging the community. The film is a parody of the blaxploitation genre. It had a trailer and funding even before a script was written. Black Dynamite was shot in 20 days in Super 16 forma
